The Red Lion welcomes you to enjoy British and French specialities in our spacious and comfortable bar in the village square of Désertines.

The bar

Its central position allows The Red Lion to enjoy the focus of village life, supporting several local events per year. Our traditional British fare attracts ex-pats from the local towns and villages, providing a focal point for clubs and activities to interest both our British and French guests. Our specialities include home-made British dishes and English-style ale.

Summer afternoons

The Red Lion DesertinesIts south-facing position provides a veritable sun-trap in fair weather, when outside seating and sunshades are provided and many a jolly Sunday afternoon can be idled away. Alternatively, relax by the log fire in winter, or playing pool, dining in our restaurant, browsing our library of free-loan novels or our directory of local information. The Red Lion is often the base of club and charity events and there are always plenty of activities for you to join in.

Comfort zone

Situated in heart of rural north-west France, Désertines is a small but lively village in the tranquil countryside of north-west France. The area is part of the Bocage Mayennais, being an area of small fields and farmsteads bordered by banks or hedges, somewhat reminiscent of English countryside.
